Mac OS 10.3.x and 10.4.x | | Summary | | I am unable to update to QuarkXPress 6.5. When I run the Updater, It shows Gathering Information. After this message displays, nothing happens, and the installer hangs. | | Solution | Follow these steps to resolve this behavior:
- Create a Root User account on the computer using the steps outlined in the Apple technical article at the following URL:

- Log out of your current Administrator account and log in as the Root User.
- Create a new folder on the Desktop and name it “ Applications” (type a 'Space' and type 'Applications').
- Copy the QuarkXPress 6.1 folder inside this folder.
- Run the Updater for QuarkXPress 6.5.
Background:
The QuarkXPress 6.5 Updater application cannot locate the QuarkXPress 6.1 folder. This can happen if permissions for the user do not allow application installation.
