“Installshield has been interrupted" Error Displays when Installing QuarkXPress Under Windows XP SP2

Summary

When I install QuarkXPress on a Windows XP SP2 workstation, The following error displays:  “Installshield has been interrupted.” Why am I receiving this error and how can I get QuarkXPress installed?

Solution

Install after setting up rights and privileges for you to install on this workstation.

  1. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy.
  2. From the Local Security Settings applet, select Local Policies.
  3. Go to User Rights Assignment.
  4. Scroll down to 'Impersonate a client after authentication' on the right hand pane and double-click on it.
  5. Add a group or user (select yourself from the accounts on the machine).
  6. Restart the machine and then install QuarkXPress.

Background:
This error displays because you do not have enough rights on the computer to install software.
