The App Studio extension will currently not install on a fresh installation of Adobe InDesign CC 2015, because the Adobe Extension Manager has been deprecated in favor of the Creative Cloud app. However, there is a manual way to install the App Studio extension in Adobe InDesign CC 2015.




  1. Download the latest version of the plugin from here: http://docs.appstudio.net/display/AppStudio/Downloads

  2. Extract content of AppStudioExporter-v2.3.1.zxp




  • Make a folder on your desktop and name it temp;

  • Copy AppStudioExporter-v2.3.1.zxp to that folder;

  • Run Terminal application and type cd ~/Desktop/temp then press Enter;

  • Then type another line unzip AppStudioExporter-v2.3.1.zxp and press Enter again;




  1. Inside the unzipped folder, you will find a folder called AppStudioExporter.zxp. This one will need to be extract as well.




  • Make a folder on your desktop and name it temp2;

  • Copy AppStudioExporter.zxp to that folder;

  • Run Terminal application and type cd ~/Desktop/temp2 then press Enter;

  • Then type another line unzip AppStudioExporter.zxp and press Enter again;




  1. Then create the following folders if they don’t already exist on the test machine:




  • Win64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions

  • Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/




  1. Place the extracted AppStudioExporter folder inside the folder mentioned above, and launch InDesign
