Solution:


The reason for this error is that the user with which you are trying to run the database update or create a new database does not have the 'sysadmin' privilege in MSSQL server. You may be logged in as the domain admin user to the machine and trying to run the update however if the domain admin user does not have the 'sysadmin' privilege, he will encounter this error.



To grant 'sysadmin' privilege, login to MSSQL server using SQL Server Management Studio and give the 'sysadmin' privilege.



Please note only a database administrator who have the permission to grant privilege can give other users the 'sysadmin' privilege.
