Many printer manufacturers use a customized protocol to communicate with their printers. For example, certain printers expect to receive data that is sent using the LPD or LPR protocols. For example, Kyocera printers have a setting to change the protocol on the printer side to KPDL.
- For Kyocera printers:
Change the print setting (on the printer side) from PCL6 to KPDL.
- For other printer manufacturers:
Go into System Preferences > Print & Fax, and apply 'Generic PostScript Printer' as the driver for that printer. In addition, you may want to contact the manufacturer to see if they have information on customized protocols used by your printer.
