Issue Description - In many cases, it has been observed that Quark XML Author Add-in does not load automatically while launching MS Word


Solution: All steps need to be followed in sequential order i.e. follow next step only if current step doesn't solve the issue.


Step-1 - Launch MS word and go to the Options menu-->Add-ins-->Manage=>COM add-ins-->Go. Please make sure Quark XML Author is checked. If it is not checked then please check it and relaunch Word.



Step-2 - Launch MS word and go to the Options menu-->Add-ins-->Manage=>Disabled Items-->Go. Please make sure there is no entry for Quark XML Author here. If there is Quark XML Author entry, then enable it.


Step-3 - Change the Load behavior in registry entry.

  1. Close MS Word and ensure that MS word is not running in Task Manager.
  2. Open Registry Editor.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Office > Word > Addins > Quark XML Author for Word > double click the LoadBehavior on right hand side (it would open Edit DWORD window). Here change the Value data to 3 (as shown in below screenshot).
  4. Close the registry editor. Re-open the registry editor to ensure "3" is still there.
  5. Restart MS Word if it is already running and check the behavior.

Step-4 - Change the Load behavior in registry entry.

  1. Close MS Word and ensure that MS word is not running in Task Manager.
  2. Open Registry Editor.
  3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Office > Word > Addins > Quark XML Author for Word > double click the LoadBehavior on right hand side (it would open Edit DWORD window). Here change the Value data to 3 (as shown in below screenshot).
  4. Close the registry editor. Re-open the registry editor to ensure "3" is still there.
  5. Restart MS Word if it is already running and check the behavior


Step-5 - Change the Load behavior in registry entry.

  1. Close MS Word and ensure that MS word is not running in Task Manager.
  2. Open Registry Editor.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Microsoft > Office > Word > Addins > Quark XML Author for Word > double click the LoadBehavior on right hand side (it would open Edit DWORD window). Here change the Value data to 3.
  4. Close the registry editor. Re-open the registry editor to ensure "3" is still there.
  5. Restart MS Word if it is already running and check the behavior.


Step-6 - Change the Load behavior in registry entry.

  1. Close MS Word and ensure that MS word is not running in Task Manager.

Step-7 - Change the Load behavior in registry entry.

  4. Close the registry editor. Re-open the registry editor to ensure "3" is still there.
  5. Restart MS Word if it is already running and check the behavior.


Step-8 - Change the Load behavior in registry entry.

  1. Close MS Word and ensure that MS word is not running in Task Manager.

  5. Restart MS Word if it is already running and check the behavior.
